Akhil Chhatre(Biography)
Akhil Chhatre is an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Neurological Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is the Director of Spine Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins. He sees and treats adults with a wide range of Spinal Diseases and Disorders, including Neck and Low Back Pain, Lumbar and Cervical Degenerative Disease, Scoliosis, Spinal Stenosis, Facet Joint Disease, Whiplash Syndrome, Sacroiliac, and Appendicular Skeletal Joint Disease and Peripheral Neuropathy. He has a special interest in helping patients regain function and reduce pain using non-surgical techniques and performing pain-reducing medicinal procedures, including steroid injections, nerve blocks, and radiofrequency denervation. He received his medical degree from the University Of Missouri School Of Medicine and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Kansas Medical Center School of Allied Health. He performed his fellowship in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he worked as an Interventional Spine and Sports fellow at the Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania after completing a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is also a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, the International Spine Intervention Society, and the North American Spine Society.

This technique is state of the art in Spinal Surgery was first published worldwide in 2000 in the United States by himself. Stylianos Kapetanakis is an Orthopaedic Surgeon-Spine Surgeon and Assistant Professor of Anatomy at the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. He has his expertise in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) and is the director of South East Endoscopic Spinal Center in European Interbalkan Medical Hospital in Thessaloniki, having performed more than 450 such surgical operations to date. He actively participates in the conformation and development of MISS by enriching medical literature with his original research. After years of teaching and performing the innovative MISS techniques, he is established as one of the primary representatives of MISS in Europe.

Antony Michael is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Spine surgeon at the Neuro Spinal Hospital in Dubai, with 28 years experience, the last 20 years in the United Kingdom. He obtained his CCT (T&O) from the UK in August 2010, FRCS (T&O), and FRCS Ed. He has completed a Master’s degree in the Surgery of Trauma and obtained the M.Med. Sci. (Trauma Surgery) at the University of Birmingham. He was awarded the prestigious William Gissane Memorial prize (Gold Medal). Before this, he completed the National Board training in Trauma and Orthopaedics from India.

Yakov Perper is Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Fellowship Trained Pain Management Physician. He earned his Medical Degree with a specialization in Anesthesia at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn. Since graduation from the Pain Management Fellowship at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, NY, He had a successful record of accomplishments in the medical field. Yakov Perper started his career in Croser-Chester Medical Center, PA in 2003. Then moved to New York with the appointment of Attending Anesthesiologist/Pain Management Doctor in Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens. He was promoted in 2004 and served as a Director of Pain Management in 2004-2005. Then he moved into Private Practice. Yakov Perper is an active member of AMA and ISIS, who was awarded by the American Consumer Research Association with the “American Top Anesthesiologists with specialization in Pain Management†Award in 2009 and 2011. His achievements in the Medical field are recognized by the American Anesthesiological Society, as well as his two patented inventions “Device for repairing a Dural Puncture†and “Seated Fluoroscopy Application Deviceâ€. Yakov Perper attended numerous Pain Management Conferences to continue his medical education. While on the World Pain Management Congress in Germany, in September 2011, he presented his new, innovative approach for the retrograde Spinal Cord Stimulator insertion which revealed a new technique of Spinal Cord Stimulator placement. “I have invented a special chair for doing injections into the neck, thoracic spine, and lumbar spine in the sitting position. This has the advantage of doing procedures safer and more convenient for the patients. I am also able to perform joint injections, shoulder joint and knee joint injections using my approach, which is relatively painless and very simple. You would not find such an approach from any other pain management provider and you would not learn it from the textbook."

Breno Nery M.D. is a neurosurgeon at Beneficencia Portuguesa Hospital (Ribeirao Preto – Brazil) and PhD student at the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto (Ribeirao Preto – Brazil). He received his M.D. from Universidade Federal de Goias (Goiania – Brazil) and did his residency program at Heliópolis Hospital (Sao Paulo – Brazil). He is interested in General Neurosurgery and especially in Skull Base and Vascular Surgery. Breno had the opportunity to travel the world to learn with the most skilled surgeons in the field. He did his visiting Fellowship in Skull Base Surgery with Professor Madjid Samii (Hannover – Germany) and his Observership focused in Skull Base Surgery and Vascular Surgery with Professor Saleem Abdulrauf (Saint Louis – USA). He also did an Observership focused in endoscopic surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School) under the guidance and orientation of Professor Edward Laws, as with Professor Ossama Al-Mefty focused in skull base pathologies. Breno Nery M.D. was honoured with the first place at Brazilians’ Board Exam (Brazilian Neurosurgical Society). Dr. Nery authored and co-authored 13 book chapters and 17 peer-reviewed articles. He is currently a member of the Brazilian Neurosurgical Society and the Walter and Dandy Neurosurgical Society.
